Apalachicola Tone Booster
Apalachicola Tone Booster
The Apalachicola Tone Booster is a pristine, high-headroom boost pedal, a powerful and deep tone shaper, and a high fidelity, saturated overdrive all in one. Inspired by the venerable Korg TNB-1, it's just as useful as an always-on preamp at the beginning of a pedal chain, an always-on preamp at the end of the chain before an amp, or as an always-on preamp in place of an amp for running into a DI box or a power amplifier. And that's just the clean mode.
The mode switch adds silicon (up) or germanium (down) clipping diodes for two flavors of overdrive*. Paired with the amp-like TMB tone stack, the Apalachicola can serve as a "dirty channel" preamp, a dirty booster, or a fantastic overdrive that can sit anywhere in on a pedalboard.
Powered by 27V from an internal charge pump, the Apalachicola is clean and clear and pretty dang loud. That asterisk (*) in the preceding paragraph is there because the gain knob is very powerful and will drive the op-amp to the rails, turning the clean mode into a touch-sensitive and responsive third overdrive setting.
This updated edition has some improvements in board layout for an even lower noise floor and to make it easier and more consistent to build.
Powered by a 9V (only! no more!) Boss-standard center-negative power supply. Features a soft-touch footswitch with mechanical relay true-bypass.
Made in the Florida Panhandle.
