Sundew Germanium Fuzz
Sundew Germanium Fuzz
The Sundew Germanium Fuzz is a classic, vintage fuzz with a lot of character. Made with new-old-stock Soviet germanium transistors, carbon composite resistors, and funky capacitors for extra mojo, the Sundew delivers timeless rock and roll sass and thick, bluesy swagger.
While the Sundew is based on a traditional Fuzz Face circuit topology, it has idiosyncrasies that are all its own. The volume knob acts as you'd expect. The fuzz knob, however, might be a little more useful than those on similar pedals, allowing a bit of cleanup when turned down. The Sundew really doesn't do the "cleans up with the guitar volume knob" thing very much. It does, however, do the velcro, sputtery, zippery, gated, broken thing pretty well. With the bias knob all the way to the left, the tone is thick, smooth, and creamy. Turning it up starts to bring in a gating effect and quickly turns the Sundew into a rude, spitting, sagging brat.
Bonus - inside the pedal you can find some dip switches to select larger or smaller input and output capacitors. The smaller input capacitor thins out the tone and turns the Sundew into a brash and dirty treble boosted fuzz.
Operates with a normal 9VDC adapter and is pedalboard friendly, playing well with daisy chains and modern power supplies. True bypass.
Made in the Florida Panhandle.
